Not That I'm Complaining

#powerofcomplaining

Have I told you that I have mastered the art of complaining? Ever since I landed on this job that requires direct interface with external parties, I was introduced to the legalities of complaining. If a supplier wasn’t able to deliver a quality good, one [that happens to be me], should not hesitate to [brace yourself] complain.

Yes, this has been my career and I’m doing really good at it. I must say that I became some sort of impatient. Really. A simple bad service makes me go enraged. And when I’m faced with extreme emotions, I pour it out through words. I write… hate emails. Within work, I have actually sent quite a number of hate emails. In my personal life, I have sent just a couple. And only one dared to respond to my outrage.

Yesterday, I was actually glad to receive an apology and a make-up resolution from Jollibee. About an hour after I sent the email, the branch I was complaining about called me up and asked for my address so they could send me a new burger. And that’s to replace the patty-less burger I had for a take out that afternoon.

I found it impressive. I wasn’t really expecting that feedback@jollibee.com.ph would work. It’s the first time that I actually received a good response from the 2 hate emails that I sent out. I’m happy to see someone/something to accept a defeat or mistake and actually do something about it. Talk about customer service. I do hope firms would understand its real essence. 

My Dogs Know Me Too Well

It was past 11pm when I arrived home the other day. I forgot to bring my key with me. The doorbell was unplugged due to annoying practice of regularly buzzing it for no reason by the street children. There was no housemaid to open the doors for me while the rest of the family members were already in their bedrooms with their TVs on. My phone's run out of battery while my other phone didn't have credit. To interchange the sim cards would be the last option, because that time, I was hoping that our dogs would help me call the attention of the people inside our house to open the doors for me. I hoped that they would bark in chorus when I tried knocking on the gate, but they didn't. They know me too well even when I only stay in the house 5 to 8 times a year. Aww. :)

This Kind Of Humor

There are different kinds of humor in this world. And like love, humor needs to have a certain chemistry with the audience.

Well, there's this certain kind of humor in Bob Ong's novels. For your better appreciation or understanding, his humor is like the Hangover movie. Or, the Horrible Bosses. Something not very sensical, but something that knows your funny bone. Bob Ong's like that. For me, at least.

I'm not really a fan, but I do appreciate some of his writings. To name some of his books that got me smiling and laughing are Abnkkbsnplako? and Stainless Longganisa. They are both light, funny and sensical. And with the cover of his newly released book, Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin, you'll know there's another humor instored for us.

Honestly, I haven't read the book yet nor have I seen it first hand. I haven't really dropped by a bookstore recently for the reason that I'm a bit tight financially and buying a book is not really an option. But seeing the cover really intrigued me. If only I knew this earlier, I could've wished this one for our exchange gift. I'm curious. And mostly I'm longing to experience another Bob Ong humor. That Bob Ong humor to be specific. I wish I could get the same funny feeling that I got with the two novels aforementioned. I missed that experience, which was not present in all of his books.

Note: This isn't a paid advertisement. How I wish this could reward me, but it doesn't. Really.

Let's talk about temptations

Temptations are everywhere. And they make my heart melt (and break).

1. Mamma Mia on January
2. Varekai (I read it somewhere that they'll be back soon)
3. Katy Perry concert on January, too!
4. Sports watch that you can use under the sea
5. Classic boyish steel watch for ladies (Ironic noh? Basta something like this http://www.authenticwatches.com/tagheuerclas.html?productid=tagheuerclas&channelid=PGRABhttp://store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/clink?movadobaby+H8SNTh+index.html+ but built for ladies)

Donations are welcome.

Meet my new cooking buddy, Cayenne!

It was from Pinoy Biggest Loser where my sister and I were introduced to Cayenne Pepper. It was, according to that particular episode, a herb good for people losing weight. It has this some sort of power or ability that makes someone lose weight. It's not that I need to lose some weight, because I am well aware that I only got my skin and bones to lose, but I want to somehow help my sister to put a tiny effort into her diet. Given this introduction, I never have expected Cayenne Pepper to have spicy effect. Yes, it has that spicy kick, which made me fall in love at first taste. I like food with hint of chili and Cayenne Pepper is truly the perfect partner in my cooking! Before, I had the black pepper as one of the spices I like to season in whatever dish I cook. Now, I think Cayenne Pepper will play that role. :)
